Both the Qur\u2019an and the Hadith address this issue explicitly, condemning zina and establishing punishments for those who commit it. <\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: center;\"><strong>QUR\u2019AN<\/strong><\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Qur\u2019an 24:2:<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;<strong>The fornicatress and the fornicator (that is, those who have sexual relations outside marriage), flog each of them with one hundred lashes<\/strong>. And do not let compassion for them restrain you from carrying out Allah\u2019s law and on the Day of Judgment. And let a group of believers witness their punishment.&#8221;  <\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Qur\u2019an 4:15:<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;And as for those of your women who are guilty of immorality, call four witnesses from among you against them. If they testify, <strong>confine such women to your houses until death takes them<\/strong> or Allah opens a way for them.&#8221; <\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: center;\"><strong>HADITH<\/strong><\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Hadith are biographies that explain what Muhammad said and did. In traditional Islam, they constitute the second pillar of the religion after the Qur\u2019an. We will highlight two:  <\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sahih Muslim, Book 17, Hadith 4196:<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Prophet said: &#8220;For those who have committed zina, <strong>flog them one hundred times, and then stone them to death<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sahih al-Bukhari, Book 88, Hadith 60:<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe Prophet said: &#8220;Whoever has sexual relations with a married woman, or with a slave woman who is engaged, or with an idolatrous woman, then he shall be <strong>flogged with one hundred lashes and stoned to death<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For this reason, dozens of Muslim-majority countries punish, under the influence of sharia, sex outside marriage, including Tunisia and Lebanon, which are among the most liberal along with Turkey. The penalties include: <\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Stoning<\/strong> in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Iran, Afghanistan, Sudan, Brunei, Nigeria, etc.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Flogging<\/strong>, as in Pakistan, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, the Maldives, etc.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Imprisonment<\/strong>, in Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, Malaysia, Mauritania, Oman, Yemen, Eritrea, Libya, etc. In Pakistan it can be up to 25 years. <\/li><\/ul><p><a href=\"https:\/\/institutodelbienestar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/VERSICULOS-QUE-OBLIGAN-AL-ASESINATO-POR-SEXO-EXTRAMARITAL2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-17539 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/institutodelbienestar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/VERSICULOS-QUE-OBLIGAN-AL-ASESINATO-POR-SEXO-EXTRAMARITAL2-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"VERSES THAT REQUIRE KILLING FOR EXTRAMARITAL SEX\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/institutodelbienestar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/VERSICULOS-QUE-OBLIGAN-AL-ASESINATO-POR-SEXO-EXTRAMARITAL2-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/institutodelbienestar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/VERSICULOS-QUE-OBLIGAN-AL-ASESINATO-POR-SEXO-EXTRAMARITAL2.jpg 397w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, there is social aggression and discrimination against those who exercise their sexual freedom and are discovered. In most Muslim communities, even in the most advanced countries, it is seen as a grave moral and religious sin, subject to harsh social punishments, especially toward women. Some of the wrongs committed against these innocent victims are:  <\/p><ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><li><strong>Social ostracism<\/strong>, with the victim losing virtually everything: family, friends, work, etc. For example, in Morocco, considered a moderate Muslim country, unmarried women who become pregnant are often repudiated by everyone and end up literally on the street and without resources. Therefore, they often have no choice but to engage in prostitution in order to survive. Even in the hospitals where they give birth, they are treated poorly quite often. To make matters worse, their children are called children of sin. Even before being born\u2014and therefore before they could have done anything wrong\u2014they are condemned by toxic societies, themselves poisoned by traditionalist Islam.     <\/li><\/ul><ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><li><strong>Physical, verbal, and\/or psychological abuse<\/strong>, including practices such as disfiguring women\u2019s faces with acid.<\/li><\/ul><ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><li><strong>Murder<\/strong> as a way to cleanse the family\u2019s honor.<\/li><\/ul><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=G4QDlIdkjpo\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-42064 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/institutodelbienestar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image016.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"616\" height=\"346\" srcset=\"https:\/\/institutodelbienestar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image016.jpg 616w, https:\/\/institutodelbienestar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image016-600x337.jpg 600w, https:\/\/institutodelbienestar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image016-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 616px) 100vw, 616px\" \/><\/a><\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=G4QDlIdkjpo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff; text-decoration: underline;\">WATCH VIDEO<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: center;\"><strong>LET US DO SOMETHING TO END THIS GREAT INJUSTICE!<\/strong><\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fortunately, more and more modernist Muslims oppose this legal and social dictatorship characteristic of traditionalist Islam, offering more merciful and contextual reinterpretations of the Qur\u2019an, in line with the principles of justice and compassion that are also central to the Islamic faith. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/institutodelbienestar.com\/en\/live-without-harming\/publications\/lets-reform-the-harmful-part-of-islam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read more\u2026<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let us help them spread this more flexible and tolerant vision within Muslim communities, so that they do not apply the texts above, and so that they influence politicians to repeal the crimes of adultery and fornication.
