Imagine that you or a loved one, after an entire life kidnapped in a cubicle full of excrement where you can barely move or do practically anything you enjoy other than eating feed and drinking water\u2014a life of exploitation and physical and psychological abuse\u2014are one day taken out of your hole and put into a truck.<\/p>

It will be the only moment in your life when you will see sunlight and enjoy the outdoors, but despite that you will likely resist getting into that truck, as you do not trust it\u2014you have a strong survival instinct. However, it will do you little good, because they will force you in, kicking you, beating you with sticks, prodding you in your genitals, or using electric shocks. <\/p>

The truck will usually be overcrowded, so you will not be able to lie down or sit, and the metal bars will hurt you, because your kidnappers do not care what you feel and suffer\u2014they consider you a mere thing<\/a><\/span><\/span>. When you arrive at the extermination facility, you will not want to get out of the truck, but they will force you to. <\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/p>

If you can no longer walk after a miserable lifetime of physical wear and tear, they will drag you along the ground as if you were a sack of potatoes.<\/p>

You will endure long waits of 1 or 2 days without being able to eat, drink, or lie down to rest\u2014crammed together (which causes tension and some to fight) and anguished, because you do not know exactly what they are going to do to you, or because you fear the worst.<\/p>

Finally, they make you enter a space where there is a moving conveyor belt overhead, and you see how they are hanging people upside down on it, as if they were mere objects devoid of feelings and dignity. As those in front of you are hung up, they force you to move closer to that kind of assembly line even though you do not want to, because you know they will do the same to you when it is your turn. <\/p>

There comes a moment when they grab you roughly,<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

because they consider you mere merchandise from which to extract the maximum profit, they turn you over and hang you on the belt by inserting one of your ankles into an iron shackle that hurts you. Your head is now down, and your ankle hurts because it is bearing the full weight of your body. If you are heavy, you will suffer tears and ruptures. <\/p>\n

But worse than the pain is the fear you are experiencing.<\/p>\n

The belt moves forward, and you see how the people ahead have their heads submerged in water or have an instrument placed on their head, after which they appear to be dead. As you get closer, your anxiety increases until it is your turn. <\/p>\n

When they apply the electric shock to you, you will in fact still be alive. If you are lucky, it will stun you quickly, but if not, it will be painful. Afterward, if you are lucky, you will be unconscious and will stop suffering. But if the stunning fails, or if they do not administer it because they have decided to use your muscles as halal or kosher meat (or they will not actually do so but will claim they will as an excuse to cut slaughterhouse costs), you will remain conscious and will watch as they kill, one by one, everyone in front of you. When it is your turn, they will cut your neck and you will bleed out. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

If you are pregnant, your child will remain alive inside you while you are already dead, until later someone opens your abdomen and removes your child, whom they will kill as well.<\/p>\n

Not even at the end of your life does the meat and dairy industry that exploited you to extract the maximum possible profit from every part of your body show you the slightest consideration, no matter how sensitive and peaceful you may be.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

It is an experience you would not wish on yourself or your loved ones, is it? So why do you inflict it on others?<\/p>\n

Because that extremely unpleasant and degrading experience is what we inflict every year on more than 900 million sentient beings (more than 900 billion in a decade and 4.5 TRILLION, with a T<\/u><\/strong> over a 50-year period).<\/p>\n

A humane death is a natural death or a painless euthanasia in the animal\u2019s habitat, by applying an injection with a painless substance, without the other animals seeing that it is being killed and therefore fearing that it will be their turn as well. <\/p>\n

What can an ethical and empathetic person do to put an end to these cruelties?:<\/p>\n

    1. Choose plant-based<\/a><\/span><\/span> options in your diet.<\/li>\n
    2. Vote for anti-cruelty political parties.<\/li>\n
    3. Sign campaigns such as this one by Igualdad Animal<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
    4. Share<\/a><\/span><\/span> these kinds of messages.<\/li>\n
    5. Persuade<\/a><\/span><\/span> people around you.<\/li>\n
    6. Donate money, both to the Institute of Wellbeing<\/a><\/span><\/span> and to NGOs that are doing excellent animal advocacy work, such as Igualdad Animal<\/a><\/span><\/span> or PETA<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
    7. Become a volunteer<\/a><\/span><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
