The torture and abuse of homosexuals by the Franco regime, due to its traditionalist Catholic nature, as explained in this article, is one of many examples of how cruel the traditionalist versions of major religions can be.
Fortunately, in Western Europe, most inhabitants are no longer traditionalist believers (this has only been the case for a few decades), but unfortunately, in most parts of the planet, they still are.
Therefore, if you want a better world, please share these kinds of messages, especially with people in other countries where this scourge is still widespread.
Let’s not be afraid to talk about religion. Some people believe that religions should not be criticized, but let’s cast off that oppressive corset and rebel against such taboos, because in many countries, the obscurantism of past societies, tyrannized by religious authorities with their horrific Inquisition torture devices, no longer exists. Fortunately, many of us currently live in free and open societies where there is a right to free expression.
Therefore, sacred cows are a thing of the past, and instead, JUSTICE ALWAYS, above all else.
But these are not the only scourges. These are the 9 main ways of thinking that cause much evil: ultranationalism/ethnicism/racism (which includes Nazism and fascism), speciesism, communism and similar ideologies, slavery and similar practices (there are still tens of millions of slaves in the world), machismo (and to a much lesser extent, pseudo-feminist matriarchalism), militarism, imperialism, and illiberal traditionalism stubbornly intent on maintaining injustices, especially conservative Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and Judaism, and above all if they are fundamentalist (in contrast to the benign, tolerant, and liberal versions of these religions). And in general, all forms of authoritarianism and totalitarianism, as well as beliefs according to which it is permissible to harm others (with the basic exception of legitimate self-defense, which is obviously justified).
Let us speak loudly and clearly against them if we want a better world, with fewer injustices and suffering. A lukewarm, condescending, and naive attitude towards all these sources of abuse only serves to perpetuate them.
Thank you,
