By diligently following personal well-being courses, we can improve and optimize both our level of life satisfaction (how satisfied we are with our lives) and emotional well-being (how good we feel). Over time, and by working persistently with these techniques, we can even generate profound changes in the functioning of our brain and its biochemical structure, progressively ceasing to use the parts of our brain related to discomfort and more intensely utilizing those parts associated with feelings of well-being, thereby experiencing a happier life.

If we truly commit ourselves, we can probably achieve self-actualization and a high level of life satisfaction. However, to be honest, it is important to clarify that this does not mean an impeccable and perfect life. We will not stop having problems. It will not make us immune. We may still experience difficult and stressful moments, frustration, pain, illness, or loss, during which we feel sad. All of this is natural. Experiencing unpleasant sensations helps us survive and is unavoidable for almost everyone. What these courses do is provide us with tools to face these adversities and negative sensations, helping us feel better (or less bad) in such situations.
Achieving good results in the ability to be happy is highly desirable, but it is not free; it usually comes at a price: dedicating sufficient time to train this ability. The good news is that working on our lives is usually pleasant and enriching. Furthermore, partial results can begin to be seen relatively quickly. If we work on the different techniques and areas of our lives, we will see how our level of life satisfaction and emotional well-being gradually increase.
It’s like a muscle: the more we exercise it, the stronger it gets. It doesn’t matter if the muscle is minimal or atrophied; by working on it, we develop it. The key is to train the well-being muscle again and again. If we do, it’s impossible not to achieve gradual results.
