The Chavista far-left has had the destructive effect of a cluster bomb in Venezuela. To begin with, it has caused the country to lose 75% OF ITS GDP!!!, going from being one of the countries with the highest per capita income in the Americas to being the fourth poorest, after Haiti, Nicaragua, and Honduras (and probably Cuba, which does not provide economic figures, but it is known that between 78% and 90% of its population lives in poverty). In other words, it was one of the largest and most beautiful balloons on the continent until Bolivarism untied the knot, causing it to lose air until it was reduced to its minimum expression.
This is true to the point that even basic food and medicines are lacking, and essential supplies such as electricity fail. If you need surgery, you have to bring the drugs yourself (if you can), and there is a possibility that the power will go out mid-operation. It is not surprising that this has happened since, besides driving away capital, entrepreneurs, and talent, they have expropriated factories and agricultural holdings only to leave them inoperative, thereby largely paralyzing the economy.

Furthermore, the regime itself, for its own survival, promotes that the bulk of the population remains poor, since the moment the poor move into the middle class, they usually stop voting for the far-left. One of the regime’s leaders stated in an interview that Chávez told him: “The revolution consists of keeping the poor poor, but with hope, because the poor are the ones who vote for us.” This is also what other leaders similar to Chávez think in other countries.

Well, once again (and as happens in all these ultra-leftist regimes), the equalization in poverty does not apply to everyone, as high-ranking leaders and senior army officials, as well as their relatives, steal large sums of money which they then store safely in European and Russian banks.

Politically, the Caribbean country has gone from being one of the few full democracies in the world (according to the Economist ranking) to an authoritarian regime where those who oppose the regime are imprisoned and tortured. In other words, it has been moving down the ladder in every sense.
In terms of security, this country has become the one with the highest crime rate in the world. Almost everything these types of ideologies touch, they usually ruin.
As a consequence of all the above, more than 8 million Venezuelans have emigrated in search of a dignified life, in contrast to the millions of European emigrants who went to Venezuela in search of a better life when there was a more liberal economic policy. This refugee crisis is the largest ever in Latin America and one of the most severe in the world. And as if that were not enough, almost 70% of those who still remain in the country plan to emigrate as well. Last one out, turn off the lights.
Tell me from which regimes to which other political-economic regimes the large migratory flows go, and I will tell you which systems generate unhappiness and which are best for the well-being of people as a whole. When there is a stampede of people leaving everything behind because they feel very dissatisfied, it is not a very good calling card for the country that causes it.
