Dogmatism is a cyanide that has caused much suffering to innocents throughout history, including murders, torture, persecution, punishments, marginalization, contempt, etc.
For example, the dogma of the unity of the Catholic faith led to the Wars of Religion against Protestants, in which an estimated 20% of the European population died, although in the regions of Europe where the clashes took place (especially in Germany), most of their inhabitants usually perished. To this must be added millions of amputees, wounded, tortured, orphans, mothers who lost their children, starving people, etc.
And something similar, to varying degrees, can be said of the numerous wars and independence conflicts caused by the rigid, iron-clad dogma of territorial indivisibility.

But what is dogma? It consists of an indisputable belief that must be complied with, often leading to harm to those who do not comply. It is very typical of religions in their traditionalist and especially fundamentalist versions (unlike liberal, tolerant, and benign ones), totalitarian ideologies such as Nazism or communism, ultranationalism, and other scourges that inoculate viruses into our minds. For example, the vast majority of Aztecs blindly believed that they had to make massive and cruel sacrifices of slaves for their gods to help them, even though they had no proof that this was true. Generation after generation, they repeated this dogma like parrots, with hardly anyone questioning it.

The opposite of dogmatism is rationality, which consists of thinking for ourselves through analysis, questioning, and verification. It implies recognizing only proven and demonstrated facts as truths and doubting simple theories, hypotheses, assertions, and opinions. Read more at…
FOR A WORLD WITHOUT HARM: Let us be rational
Fortunately, since the Age of Enlightenment, about 300 years ago, there has been a gradual process in which reason is gaining ground over blind faith. For example, a few decades ago, the dogma of the sacred indissolubility of marriage was still widespread in many countries, even if a woman was beaten by her husband.
So much so that, when she sought help from her confessor, he would tell her that she had to stoically endure it because that was God’s will. If she went to the police, they would advise her not to provoke her husband. And if a woman separated from her husband, she was stigmatized because she supposedly went against the Lord. Today, all that has been overcome in many countries, with such barbarity being seen as something archaic and backward, typical of dark ages.
Let us continue along the path of this historical progress, being as rational as possible ourselves and contributing to creating a free, open, respectful, just, and advanced environment, as well as avoiding the indoctrination of children and young people. Let us educate them in critical thinking, fostering debates, research, and asking them for evidence for their claims. Let us ask them: How do you know that is so? On what basis are you so sure?
