LET US BUILD A BETTER WORLD!: LET US BE OPTIMISTIC THAT WE CAN ACHIEVE IT

We have reasons for hope and the belief that we can achieve a much happier world in which to live. Because, if there have been great social improvements in recent centuries, we can also achieve others in the times ahead. All of this is possible as long as there are people who fight for them or, at the very least, contribute their part to make them happen.

There are defeatists who say that the world and the human race cannot be changed. And, therefore, we must settle for suffering, discomfort, cruelty, and injustice, etc. There are people who think that the status quo governing human societies is something unalterable or that it is better not to change it.

But this is not the case. In fact, much has changed throughout history, such as the abolition of human sacrifice, slavery, and serfdom, and so on. Even in recent decades, great strides have been made, such as women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights, individual freedoms, pain medication, medical advances, etc. If, thanks to the determination of part of society, this entire perfecting process has been carried out, let us have faith that it can continue if we set our minds to it.

Are we going to stop here and settle for what we have already achieved, or are we going to move toward an even better world in which to live? The latter is not achieved with a conformist, lukewarm, and excessively conservative attitude, but with a rebellious spirit of continuous improvement and oriented toward excellence, toward the best possible world.

Just because we have always seen something in a certain way or because it has always been that way does not mean it must remain so forever. Many thought the same about the old monarchical or authoritarian dictatorial regimes. But the reality is that in many places, they have been successfully eradicated.

All the injustices that have fallen began when someone decided to rebel against them, when they said: NO! THIS IS AS FAR AS WE GO AND THIS MUST CHANGE! And they convinced others, who in turn persuaded others, and so on, like dominoes falling one after another.

For example, the Ancien Régime that existed in Europe until the French Revolution was an absolutely unjust system of privileges for the aristocracy and high clergy, who owned almost all the land and wealth. This was at the expense of the vast majority of the population, serfs, who were exploited by the former, lived in misery, and on top of that, had to pay all the taxes. In other words, the first group had all the rights and the second had all the obligations.

Everything changed thanks to Enlightenment thinkers such as Rousseau, Voltaire, Montesquieu, or D’Alembert, who wrote texts against that abusive order. Subsequently, those ideas spread through word of mouth or through speeches, books, pamphlets, etc. And when a sufficient critical mass of people aware of it was reached, reformist and revolutionary movements occurred that succeeded in altering the order of things.

LET US BE REFORMISTS TOO! Because there are still many injustices, exposed in the various articles of the Living Without Harm initiativeread more. Toxic rain continues to fall, and furthermore, it is already pouring, as we come from a past of great cruelties. To this must be added the multiple types of physical and emotional discomforts and pains inherent to our organism, such as those presented in Wikihappiness… read more. LINK TO LISTS OF PROBLEMS.

ALL OF THIS CAN BE LARGELY ELIMINATED IF WE SET OUR MINDS TO IT!

Are we going to settle for living in the current semi-pigsty, lying in filth? Or are we going to stand up with dignity to pick up the broom and clean it?

If you were about to die, would you be satisfied and proud of yourself for having contributed actively and/or passively to maintaining this semi-dunghill? Or would you regret not having done something to improve it?

Do you really want to preserve this purgatory on earth? Or do you prefer a world as pleasant and happy as possible in which to live? Because we will achieve this if we follow the necessary steps to stop the abuse in society, reduce suffering to its minimum expression, and increase happiness… read more.

LET US THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX! Let us look at other possibilities and make the necessary reforms… read more. It is true that the obstacles to perfecting people and societies are great, but it is also true that we can overcome them if enough of us contribute to it.

If only a few of us pull the weight of the civilizing process, we can achieve great things, just as they have been achieved in the past because others did so. They say that it is enough for 10% of the population to try to convince the rest of the desirability of introducing an improvement to achieve it.

Thank you for sharing to achieve a much better world,
