One way of harming others is toxic intolerance—toward a behaviour or trait that is actually harmless—so the victims of that intolerance are therefore innocent. By harmless, we mean that it does not constitute objective harm to others, except in cases of legitimate self-defence, whether one’s own or another person’s, against the aggressor.
There is nothing harmful in any form of freely consensual sexuality or relationships, style of dress, profession (including prostitution), or lifestyle that does no harm to others. Nor is there anything harmful in physical or psychological peculiarities that are harmless, and in general in anything that causes no harm to others; therefore, all of this deserves tolerance. By contrast, all injustice and harmful intolerance toward what is harmless deserve healthy disapproval. Let all plants grow, but remove the poisonous mushrooms.

Some examples of harmful intolerance are rejection of other races, ethnicities, nationalities, benign religions, sexual orientations, consensual sexual behaviours, disabilities, or non-abusive behaviours.

Such intransigence is a trigger that unleashes harmful emotions, attitudes, and behaviours, such as hatred, discrimination, stigmatisation, and verbal, emotional, or even physical aggression. It also leads to workplace exclusion, bullying at school, mobbing at work, or even major crimes such as murders, torture, terrorist attacks, and genocides.
Toxic intolerance is often most strongly expressed in the ideological and social spheres of the far right (such as Nazism, fascism, and military dictatorships), the rights-trampling, freedom-destroying far left (such as communism and other authoritarian movements with a Marxist base), and religious fundamentalism (such as Christian, Islamic, Jewish, or Hindu fundamentalism).

To a lesser extent, it is also fairly often present in the far right, the far left, and religious conservatism. To understand it better, and put in a crude way: if the former are often outright pains in the neck, the latter are sometimes simply a pain in the neck. But since we can all amend our ways, let us switch sides now.
BETTER YET, LET US LIVE AND LET LIVE!
