AVOID HARM IN ISLAM! FORCING MUSLIMS TO LIVE IN GHETTOS

The Quran contains a series of verses that can be interpreted as prohibiting having non-Muslim friends and partners, forming closed ghettos:

Quran 3:118:

“O you who believe! Do not take as intimate friends those who are not of your own people, for they will not cease to corrupt you; they desire your ruin.”

Quran 60:10:

“Do not hold on to the bonds of marriage with unbelieving women.”

Quran 3:28:

“Let not believers take disbelievers as allies instead of believers. And whoever does that has no relation with Allah.”

Quran 5:51:

“O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies [or protectors]; they are allies [or protectors] of one another. And whoever among you takes them as allies [or protectors], indeed, he is [counted] among them. Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.”

Quran 4:144:

“O you who have believed, do not take the disbelievers as allies instead of the believers. Do you wish to give Allah a clear proof against yourselves?”

Quran 9:23:

“O you who believe! Do not take your fathers or your brothers as allies if they prefer disbelief over faith. And whoever among you takes them as allies – then it is those who are the wrongdoers.”

NON-INTEGRATION OF MUSLIMS

Some Muslims integrate into non-Muslim majority countries, but others do not, especially traditionalists (and among these, particularly fundamentalists), forming their communities and ghettos, which persist for generations.

In these communities, religious identity is deeply valued, and social pressure may exist to maintain friendships and relationships strictly within the Ummah (community of Muslims). They see this as a way to preserve their culture and traditions and perceive that the values and practices of non-Muslims may be incompatible or even threatening to their way of life.

Some members internally impose segregation to maintain religious and cultural purity, leading to ghettos. They even commit honor crimes against those who have non-Muslim partners, especially murdering women who dare to do so.

Furthermore, in some European cities, genuine Muslim neighborhoods are created with their de facto religious police who impose their rules on both Muslims and non-Muslims, assaulting those who do not follow them. They even establish Sharia courts parallel to the country’s judicial system. In some of these ghettos, the level of violence is such that neither ambulances nor the police themselves dare to enter, turning them into “no-go” zones, that is, parallel societies where non-Muslims cannot go.

LET’S END THIS SOCIAL TYRANNY!

Fortunately, there are increasing voices within the Muslim community advocating for openness, freedom, tolerance, integration, peaceful coexistence, intercultural dialogue, and inclusion.

They cite Quranic verses such as 60:8: “Allah does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes – from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.”
