Homophobia causes a great deal of suffering to innocents who do not harm anyone. Read more at…
LET US LIVE WITHOUT HARMING! Not the LGBT+ community either.
What can a fair and compassionate person do to put an end to this scourge?:
1. Sign this campaign to ask all governments to guarantee the protection and full equality of rights for LGBT people. Sign…
2. Donate money to NGOs that help people from this community escape, and provide shelter and support to those who are forced to flee their surroundings due to homophobic oppression, such as Rainbow Railroad.
3. Realize that human beings are not born homophobic; they learn it as a result of the harmful indoctrination of very specific religions… Read more...
Therefore, it is possible to undo this brainwashing through rationalization (learn to rationalize…) and by thinking for ourselves (learn to think…)
4. Be respectful, tolerant, and egalitarian in rights and treatment toward people in this community, and in general toward any innocent person.

5. Do not vote for far-right or traditionalist parties that are anti-LGBT+ rights.

6. Apply pressure to liberalize and secularize societies, as well as to reform the Abrahamic religions, since they are the root of the problem. Countries that are oppressive and repressive toward the LGBT community have one thing in common: most of the population are conservative Christians and/or Muslims. That is the cause of this great injustice.
LET US LIVE WITHOUT HARM! Let us respect others’ freedom
LIVING WITHOUT HARM: Let us reform the harmful side of religions
LET US PREVENT HARM IN CHRISTIANITY!: murder and mistreatment of LGBT people
LET US PREVENT HARM IN ISLAM!: murder and mistreatment of LGBT people
This is what happens in Africa and in most Muslim-majority countries. The states with the most perverse laws against homosexuals tend to be those with the most homophobic societies, as can be seen in sociological studies such as those by the Pew Research Center. This is the case in Uganda, where 96% of the population rejects homosexuals. And in turn, this coincides with the fact that these are societies with larger majorities of traditionalist Muslims and Christians.
At the other extreme, we have highly secularized and developed countries such as Sweden, Austria, Denmark, New Zealand, Norway, Finland, and Switzerland. This coincides—and not by chance—with the fact that these are places that are very tolerant toward the LGBT community. Because the moment a society ceases to be archaic and backward and becomes secularized and liberalized, that homophobic evil comes to an end. That is precisely what has happened in Western Europe and other fairly civilized parts of the world, such as Canada, Australia, or the more advanced areas of the United States. Therefore, the key is secularization and the reform of those religions so that they adopt a more liberal, tolerant, respectful, and benign version.
7. Promote economic and cultural development, since this goes hand in hand with secularization, freedom, tolerance, and opposition to homophobia, whereas poverty and lack of education are strongly correlated with the opposite.

8. Share the previous signature campaign, this message, and others you receive from different sources that contribute to respect for the rights of the community across all your social networks and with all or most of your contacts. Do not worry if it bothers someone to receive them, since those are precisely the people who most need them in order to change their insensitive way of thinking. In particular, let us send them to people in countries where rights are still not respected. Read more…
LET US BE EMPATHETIC AND GOOD PEOPLE!
And let us not think that this problem has already been overcome and that homophobia is a thing of the past, because:
1. This scourge continues in many places: 65 countries still criminalize the LGBT+ community, and in quite a few others it suffers harm from society—especially in the most backward and least secularized places: Africa, Muslim-majority countries, the Caribbean, and Central America. If we were to take a map of the world, we would see it stained with large red areas made up of those societies.
2. Progress is being made in some parts of the planet, but there is backsliding in others, especially in Africa, where there are countries that are moving backward like crabs, due to pressure from—in this order—evangelical pastors, Muslim imams, and Catholic priests, all of them traditionalist. They are even introducing degrading practices such as anal examinations to see whether it is dilated.
At another level, countries such as Russia, Belarus, and others under the Russian umbrella are also experiencing an ultra-conservative regression due to the influence of the Russian Orthodox Church. Its leader, Patriarch Kirill, considers the war in Ukraine to be justified because it is against the gay lobby. In those countries, people can be sentenced to prison for holding hands or speaking in public about homosexuality, amid a hostile, suffocating, and bleak environment.

And with lesser intensity, even within the European Union itself there has been backsliding in Hungary and in the rural and poor areas of deep Poland, driven by the conservative Catholic clergy. In these places, LGBT-free zones have been created, where they not only exclude this community but also attack it in the street. This is because there is greater carte blanche for all kinds of assaults, microaggressions, and discrimination, as it is permitted by the authorities and the Polish Catholic Church. In these ultra-Catholic areas, two-thirds of the LGBT+ community have been victims of insults or other forms of violence, and half suffer from depression.
3. At other times in history, other major regressions have occurred in this and other matters, so we cannot take anything for granted. Therefore, let us not let our guard down, since humankind remains the same and history is sometimes cyclical, like the succession of day and night.
