It is necessary to fight against injustices, but not through other abuses, as forced wokeism of Marxist heritage does, which seeks privileges for certain groups at the expense of taking away rights from others. For example, it demands much higher grades from Asian Americans to access university than from African Americans, thereby harming the former.

The woke movement has a very positive side: mobilizing against abuses and working for a better world. However, an injustice is never solved with another injustice, but with justice.
It is advisable to take a stand against racism/ethnicism/xenophobia/ultranationalism, but not to turn this into a fanaticism that points the finger at any micro-racism or non-racism, such as a child wearing an Indian costume at carnival or saying that, in general, Black people are less entrepreneurial than White people. Or like asserting that Asians on average are more hardworking than Arabs, that Muslims as a whole are more fanatical and intolerant than Buddhists, or that Southern Europeans are usually more wasteful than Northern Europeans.
It is good to prevent hate speech and harm to innocents, but not to limit freedom of expression beyond that, as long as truths are spoken and never defamations and malicious manipulations. Let us not fall into a far-left radicalism that seeks to impose censorship and a cancel culture consisting of discrediting, harassing, silencing, boycotting, and firing people for legitimate opinions. Because taking away freedom of expression and harming the reputation of those who exercise it are ways of harming others.
Certain truths sometimes bother people, but everyone has the right to speak them. Moreover, it is healthy to describe reality as it is, as it allows for a better understanding of the world and is the basis for making improvements.
Truths are different from generalizations, in which a stereotype is spread for all members of a group. They are often incorrect because, normally, in large human groups, there are all types of individuals. What changes are the statistical percentages of each typology compared to other communities.
Let us not overgeneralize, much less defame and lie, but let us not be afraid to speak the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
Nor should we worry about other micro-racisms, as long as we do not harm any innocent person, such as:
- Having preferences for certain racial, ethnic, national, or other groups, based on objective facts, provided we do not unfairly harm any individual. That is, at a collective level, we may prefer Swedes to Roma people, but at an individual level, it would not be fair to simply dismiss a Roma person from a personnel selection process or a property rental without further justification, solely because of their ethnicity.
- Naturally feeling a greater affinity for people who are genetically or culturally closer to us.
- Considering people of our own race more attractive (to explain it simply and understandably, as some geneticists say that races do not exist). In fact, even in very cosmopolitan cities where people of many origins coexist and there is social freedom to choose a partner, most European-descendants tend to select others of the same origin. And the same happens with Sub-Saharan Africans, Chinese, mestizos, etc.
This is natural, as in both Homo sapiens and other species, sexual and romantic attraction tends to be towards individuals who are neither too similar nor too different. Therefore, we do not usually choose our siblings or members of other species as partners, but rather those with a certain genetic proximity, but not too much.
These biological and cultural tendencies are not at odds with being open and having a good predisposition to make friends (even very good friends) from other racial and ethnic groups.
On the other hand, not being xenophobic does not mean that we are obliged to indiscriminately welcome all immigrants who wish to come to our country, including criminals, in a way that leads to a significant increase in public insecurity. In fact, this is what has happened in countries like Sweden, where some Syrian and Iraqi refugees have created no-go zones, so insecure that neither ambulances nor the police dare to enter them. Read “LET US AVOID HARM!: Let us open ourselves to harmless immigration and close ourselves to harmful immigration.
Having an open mind is not incompatible with being selective based on rational criteria. We do not have to identify with everything, including clearly harmful groups, such as fundamentalist Muslims, Christians, Jews, or Hindus, or certain types of immigrants who come to live at the expense of others by taking advantage of the welfare state.
Racism is one thing, and abusiveness is quite another, which closes doors to those who come to trample on others, regardless of their skin color or the shape of their nose.
