Behind the electoral platforms of today’s far-left parties—skillfully tailored to certain voter niches in each country, with some appealingly progressive proposals in modern countries—there is often something that carries a serious risk that, if actually implemented, will end badly. As happened with 20th-century communism (in theory and appearance very attractive to many people, but in practice it ended up becoming a purgatory, if not a true hell) or 21st-century Bolivarian Socialism (much the same).

After all the devastation and suffering that communists and the like have caused for more than a century in every country, when someone self-identifies as a communist, they inspire as little trust as someone who labels themselves a Nazi, no matter how many appealing proposals they make.

Most factions within these new movements that are heirs to communism tend to share, to varying degrees, at least these 7 injustices:

1. To plunder from others what they have obtained honestly, typically through their own efforts—or those of their parents or grandparents. It is fair to expropriate large estates that originate from theft through conquest and have been inherited over generations (such as those of the European aristocracy or those in Latin America that trace back to the conquistadors). But taking away from someone the fruits of effort (work, saving, and using it in profitable investments) is plain theft. Two widespread forms of this injustice in countries where the far left is in power are the expropriation of the middle and upper classes (in Venezuela) and squatting, a kind of partial expropriation (in Spain).

2. To equalize only what suits them. Their voters benefit from equalizing the fruits of effort, but not the effort that produces those fruits. Therefore, their far-left political representatives look after their selfish interests. What is fair is that if one farmer ploughs and tends his fields for 10 hours a day, he should end up with twice the harvest of someone who does so for only 5 hours a day. It is profoundly abusive not to want to equalize the number of hours worked, yet on harvest day to try to equalize the profit obtained by both, claiming that this economic inequality is a social injustice.

Experiments have been conducted with children and monkeys that yielded the same result: we—and other species—have an innate sense of justice that tells us it is fair to get the same outcome for doing the same thing, and a different outcome for different degrees of effort. Therefore, some are well-intentioned but mistaken, and others manipulate for self-interest, when they call a social injustice the economic inequality that results from differing numbers of hours worked (and therefore exhaustion and stress), work intensity, the desire to do things well and be competitive, saving, risks assumed (which are also a source of worry and money lost in failed investments), entrepreneurship, etc.

To make matters worse, far-left politicians are experts at making others equal in poverty, but not themselves, enjoying a privileged—and sometimes even excessive—economic level, and stealing large sums of money from the people. None of the above is surprising, since studies in the field of psychology show a correlation between the far left and selfishness, malignant narcissism, and psychopathy.

5. To attack individual freedom, a basic treasure of human beings and other sentient beings by the simple right of birth, which contributes significantly to our happiness according to scientific studies. Read more…

6. To be antisemitic. According to sociological research, most far-left extremists, under the guise of simply wanting to defend Palestinians from oppression, conceal genuine antisemitism. The main reason is not the noble aim of fighting the abuses committed by Zionists against Palestinians (which are entirely condemnable). Because if that were the reason, they would also protest the numerous abuses carried out by many Muslims in much of the world, or by other religions, ethnicities, governments, etc. In fact, there are victimizations on a far larger scale that cause far more suffering than the Zionist one—yet far-left extremists often remain silent about them, applying an enormous double standard.

They act this way primarily out of identification. They tend to hate Jews partly because Jews are often characterized by being prosperous and successful through their effort. They feel the same envy and resentment toward them as they do toward the Western bourgeoisie, since all of them are repulsive working and hoarding little ants who progress and prosper—precisely the opposite of what most of the former are.

• Complicity in their hatred toward the West, its values, and its liberal democracy with moderate capitalism, which they would like to destroy and replace with a totalitarian caliphate governed by Sharia (in the case of Islamists) or an authoritarian, impoverishing regime similar to Venezuela’s (in the case of the far left).

• Ideological affinity, due to sharing an illiberal idiosyncrasy—somewhere between authoritarian and totalitarian—oppressive and hateful toward innocents. Some of them also share their aggressive, violent, conflict-driven, and destructive instincts. Many far-left extremists speak of pacifism, yet many of their demonstrations end in vandalism. Some of them also share their sectarian and fanatical spirit.

In a way, both ideologies are kindred spirits: freedom-destroying, abusive, harmful, intolerant, and lacking any sense of justice.

This is why far-left extremists praise Hamas and wave its flag, or receive funds from Iran’s deeply oppressive and repressive regime. This is why they speak of feminism, yet never criticize Muslim chauvinism, which is the greatest on the planet. This is why they raise an outcry over micro-chauvinisms committed by Western white men, but never over mega-macro-chauvinisms (such as honor killings) stemming from Islamic fundamentalism. And that is why in the West they do everything they can to open the doors to all kinds of Muslim immigration, including the most fundamentalist and Islamist. They care little that a Trojan Horse enters that wants to destroy Western civilization, because far-left extremists are also enemies of it. They play the same role as those traitors in films who open the gates in the wall to let the enemy into the city.

And the same role of “useful idiots” (useful fools) that communists played in Iran in the 1970s, when they allied with Khomeini’s Islamists to overthrow the Shah. Once they succeeded, the Islamists took power and got rid of the former, persecuting, torturing, and massacring them, since they stopped being useful to them and they accept no form of dissent. If they gained power in any Western country, they would kill far-left atheists who do not want to convert to Islam and throw “queers for Palestine” off tall buildings, as they do to homosexuals in Gaza.
