AVOID HARM!: LET’S TALK ABOUT POLITICS AND RELIGION

Many people still believe in the taboo that politics and religion should not be discussed in meetings or chats with friends or family. This is especially true when it involves criticizing widespread creeds and ideologies, regardless of how harmful they may be, such as  traditionalist Christianity and Islam or liberticidal communism.

LET US RISE ABOVE SUCH DOGMAS!

Because justice stands above all those mediocre conventionalisms. Speaking clearly and denouncing all types of abuse and their causes in any kind of forum is effective in ending them. Undoubtedly, there will be people with a low or average sense of justice who will not like such public denunciations. But justice is more important than trying to please everyone, including those who wish for abuse to be perpetuated, and especially the perpetrators and accomplices involved.

Some say that all religions and ideologies are always respectable. But then, should we respect Nazism? Or the ancient Carthaginian religion, which performed human sacrifices with children? While it is true that the general rule should be a culture of  respect, this has a limit: outrage. None is respectable, and when a way of thinking advocates for evil, it loses its honorability.

Take the Netherlands as an example, the most advanced country in this regard and many others. There, people can and do speak with full freedom on all kinds of topics, including religion and politics, without any kind of hesitation or censorship of what is politically or religiously correct.

Let us do as they do and SHED THE CORSETS THAT OPPRESS US!

Furthermore, the anatomy of evil is as follows: it always has an individual basis, and most instances also possess a social component, often with a herd effect. And they always have a political side, because states either permit, approve, or even encourage and/or commit them, or, on the contrary, prohibit and fight against them to varying degrees.

And a portion of injustices also has a religious component, as they are committed because there are religions that drive their followers to commit them. Sometimes there is an economic ingredient, when the purpose is enrichment. Other dimensions may also exist, but always and above all, they are a moral issue regarding what is right and what is wrong.

Therefore, to address outrages in a direct, clear, complete, and effective way, it is inevitable to speak about all these components, also touching upon the political and religious aspects, and overcoming old taboos.

Let us tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, as in a trial or a scientific investigation. Let us not keep our heads bowed, afraid to bring certain villainies to light because they stem from specific political ideologies or religions. THE SACRED COWS ARE OVER!

Let us not be afraid, and let us rebel against dogmas that preserve injustices. Because in many countries, the obscurantism of past societies tyrannized by the horrific torture devices of the Holy Inquisition no longer exists.

We can no longer be silenced by laws that condemn criticism of religion (the so-called crime of blasphemy) even with death, or through the repressive police apparatus of dictatorships that oppress any dissident. Fortunately, many of us now live in free and open societies. The only limit must be defamation, intentional lies, and discourse that causes harm or hatred toward innocent people.
