LET US LIVE WITHOUT HARMING: Let us prevent the far left from harming prostitutes and their clients.

France debates whether to punish prostitutes or their clients | International | EL MUNDO

Prostitutes and their clients deserve to be left in peace and treated with respect, as long as they do not harm anyone and each party freely fulfills their part of the agreement made between them. That is the ideal, but reality is quite different, mainly because of traditional puritan morals and the far left.

Morality inherited from Marxism is today the main source of rejection of the commercialization of sex. Karl Marx said in his writings (the new Bible for many from the 19th century onward) that prostitution should be banned. For that reason, one of the first things communist countries used to do was outlaw it, making sex workers outside the law, like thieves.

After the fall of almost all communist regimes, part of the far left that inherited Marxism still aspires to make prostitutes illegal in advanced countries, behind a disguise of feminism, since these are modern, attractive garments for a good part of those societies.

However, let us not be deceived by appearances, because genuine feminists support the freedom of sex workers to do with their bodies and their lives what they consider appropriate, without harming anyone. Because feminism is freedom and equal rights between genders.

Those who want to ban prostitution are in fact authoritarian matriarchs who enjoy telling other women what they can and cannot do, similar to those bossy mothers-in-law who, when their daughter-in-law joined their household, told her what she had to do and what she must not do, supposedly because they knew what was best for everyone. But would it not be better if they stopped being so obsessed with what others do with their vaginas and simply looked at their own, if they wish?

In fact, at the 8M demonstrations, International Women’s Day, the few sex workers who dare to take part are often insulted and excluded by far-left pseudo-feminists, who try to expel them from the event. Because the former are heretics who do not follow the strict dogmas of the latter and therefore deserve to be excommunicated.

What happens is that Women’s Day, as its name clearly indicates, is a day in honor of ALL women in general. Therefore, what right does a handful of harpies have to try to expel some poor prostitutes? How about leaving them alone and minding their own lives? Because it would be far more beneficial for those bitter women to sort out their lives and their minds so full of poison, try to enjoy themselves, and let others live. If anyone is out of place at any gathering in favor of rights, it is precisely the anti-rights people, and never those who demand them.

Some on the far left and the extreme left justify themselves by claiming they want to “abolish”(1) prostitution to prevent sexual slavery and the trafficking of women. However, the logical approach is to combat these two crimes and not prostitution, which is a different phenomenon, just as it is advisable to combat labor slavery and the trafficking of forced workers, and not work itself. In the same way, it is not reasonable to use a cannon to kill flies.

(1) “Abolish” is a manipulative term in this context, since they use it because it has the positive connotations of the historical moments when slavery was ended, whereas what the anti-prostitution advocates want to put an end to is the opposite of slavery, which is freedom—in this case, women’s freedom to work as prostitutes.

Another argument they use is that prostitution is bad because it turns those who practice it into men’s sex objects. Slaves (both male and female) were things (and in fact are still considered as such), conceived as mere property with which their owners could do almost anything they wanted, including raping them. Non-human animals are considered mere merchandise by many humans—possessions we can exploit for our benefit.

However, a prostitute is not usually regarded by her clients as an object, but as a free professional, just like a physiotherapist or an acupuncturist. That is why they pay her fees and must accept the conditions she sets. And if there are sexists who consider prostitutes (and other kinds of women) to be objects they can abuse, the logical course is to act against those perpetrators and not against all clients and sex workers.

Unlike puritans, Marxist-influenced pseudo-feminists take freedom away from prostitutes, but above all they target their clients, whom they contemptuously call “johns” or “prostituters” instead of simply “clients,” and they try to criminalize them. And again, let us not be manipulated: clients do not harm anyone as long as they respect prostitutes, treat them properly, and pay the agreed fees. Therefore, they are innocent.

Something similar has happened with prostitutes (though with much lower intensity) as with Jews, who for centuries were victims of Christian ultra-conservatism that caused hatred, discriminatory laws, ghettos, and numerous pogroms. From the end of the 18th century, liberal and secularizing Enlightenment thought granted them equal rights.

But that period in which it seemed that Jews would finally be respected and left in peace did not last long, because soon there appeared, in addition to the Catholic counterrevolution, another powerful phenomenon that has caused so much suffering: nationalism. From this point on, rejection emerged not on religious grounds (anti-Judaism) but on ethnic grounds (antisemitism), which led to exactly the same as always, but on an even larger scale.

With prostitutes, a quarter of the same has happened: for centuries they were victims of religious puritanism; from the 18th century, liberal ideas contributed to their liberation and dignification; but it was too good to be true. Because it did not last long, as another threat soon appeared from the far-left end of the political and social spectrum, which wants to deprive them of their rights and unjustly denigrate their clients.

Let us protect prostitutes with special care, since they are a very small group, without sufficient social weight to defend their trampled rights and dignity, unlike larger groups such as women in general, LGTBI people, the working class, immigrants, etc.

A good way to do so is to share.

Thank you,

Xavier Paya
